Reducing ~ fossil fuel dependence and greenhouse gases
I realize that this statement alone will set the oligarchy
against me. Yes, I believe that an oligarchy controls our
nation, so it's time for a change. We, the people of the
united states of America, in order to form a more perfect
union, to establish justice, and insure domestic tranquility
... you know how it goes. That means you and that
means me ~ we have a say, our vote counts! I want my
grandchildren to have a good life and to not be reduced to
scratching a living out of damaged land and drinking
damaged water. Why are we, as a nation, not
participating in the current green accord? Probably the
oligarchy. Why do individual states have better emission
controls than the federal government and why are those
states feeling the need to sue the US government to do
the right thing? Shouldn't we do what's right because it's
right and not because someone is suing us to do it? How
sad! I place the burden on the federal government rather
than on the individuals citizens.
How can this be done in 10 years or less? Very easily I believe! We need a
“congress” of energy options. A "congress" would be a group of several options.
For example, in Albuquerque, NM solar is strong, but that won’t work in the winter
in Selawik, AK. Geothermal energy would be great in some areas and wind
energy is excellent in others, but these don’t work in all areas of the nation. We
need to be creative and use several energy sources, a “congress,” in every part of
the nation. Fossil fuel is so popular because it’s a one size fits all energy source,
yet when we can’t buy it any more, it will be very dark and very cold in the
wintertime. Fossil fuels are amazing and we use them every day in ways we might
not even suspect. I, for one, am rather fond of plastics and their ilks, and do not
wish to live a life without the advantages of using our fossil fuel technology. The
expertise is out there for a powerful, successful, transition to alternative energy.
Our national government should lead by example. Let’s make it happen.
For starters, how about this?
2009 ~ All new federal buildings, which have not yet broken ground, will be
passive solar and at least 50% of those already approved will not be built until
they can be energy independent, but still tied to the grid to support the community
in which they are located. At least 10% of existing federal buildings will be
converted to alternative energy power, and continue to be grid tied. Extend tax
incentives for individuals installing alternative energy for their homes. Give monies
to all schools, state buildings and businesses that install alternative energy
sources, which provide more than their daily needs and remain tied to the grid.
Encourage all new home building to be, at least, passive solar. Offer building
incentives for alternative energy built homes, for the builder and the buyer. At
least 25% of all federally owned vehicles will be alternative energy powered.
Extend tax credits for hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles. Develop a website to
chart the triumphant conversion from a greenhouse nation to a clean, fossil fuel
independent nation. Tax all imported fossil fuels by 10%.
.
2010 ~ No new federal buildings will be built, henceforth that are not solar passive
and completely energy independent. At least 25% (total) of existing federal
buildings will be converted to alternative energy power. Continue tax incentives
for individual homeowners and monies to schools, state buildings and businesses
that install alternative energy sources and remain tied to the grid. Offer assistance
to owners of older buildings to find successful ways to convert. Offer assistance
to any school district in developing a plan for converting. Using the website, add
an interactive portion which could calculate savings in fuel costs and effectively
budget the change. Encourage all new home building to be, at least, passive
solar. Offer building incentives for alternative energy built homes. At least 65% of
all federally owned vehicles will be alternative energy powered, with the possible
exceptions of military vehicles and airplanes. {But, I have faith in Sandia Labs,
Los Alamos, and NonoSolar, among others that this may not have to be exceptions
for very long.} Extend tax credits for hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles. Reduce
federal subsidies of fossil fuels by 10%. Tax all imported fossil fuels by 20%.
2011 ~ At least 40% (total) of existing federal buildings will be converted to
alternative energy power. Continue tax incentives for individuals and monies to
schools, state buildings and businesses that install alternative energy. Expand the
website for new alternative energy home purchasing savings and budgeting.
Encourage all new home building to be, at least, passive solar. Offer building
incentives for alternative energy built homes. At least 90% of all federally owned
vehicles will be alternative energy powered with the possible exceptions of military
vehicles and airplanes. Extend tax credits for alternative fuel vehicles, with a
bonus if the homeowner uses alternative energy as well. Reduce federal
subsidies of fossil fuels by 10%. Tax all imported fossil fuels by 30%.
2012 ~ At least 55% (total) of existing federal buildings will be converted to
alternative energy power. Reduce, but continue tax incentives for individuals and
monies to schools and state buildings that install alternative energy sources and
remain tied to the grid. Encourage all new home building to be passive solar and
support alternative energy. At least 95% of all federally owned vehicles will be
alternative energy powered with the possible exceptions of military vehicles and
airplanes. Extend tax credits for alternative fuel vehicles, with a bonus if the
homeowner uses alternative energy as well. Reduce federal subsidies of fossil
fuels by 25%. Tax all imported fossil fuels by 40%.
2013 ~ At least 70% (total) of existing federal buildings will be converted to
alternative energy power. Reduce, but continue tax incentives for individuals and
monies to schools that install alternative energy sources and remain tied to the
grid. All federally owned vehicles will be alternative energy powered,
with the possible exceptions of military vehicles and airplanes. Tax all
newly purchased vehicles that are strictly fossil fueled. Tax all new homes that
are not passive solar. Reduce federal subsidies of fossil fuels by 40%. Tax all
imported fossil fuels by 50%.
2014 ~ At least 85% (total) of existing federal buildings will be converted to
alternative energy power. Reduce, but continue tax incentives for individuals and
monies to schools that install alternative energy sources and remain tied to the
grid. Tax all new construction that is not passive solar. Tax all newly purchased
vehicles that are strictly fossil fueled. Reduce federal subsidies of fossil fuels by
60%. Tax all imported fossil fuels by 60%.
2015 ~ At least 95% (total) of existing federal buildings will be converted to
alternative energy power. Final year of tax incentives for homeowners, that install
new alternative energy sources. Tax all new construction that is not passive solar
and is not using alternative energy. Tax all newly purchased vehicles that are
strictly fossil fueled. Reduce federal subsidies of fossil fuels by 80%. Tax all
imported fossil fuels by 70%.
2016 ~ All federal buildings will be energy independent! Fine all
businesses polluting with fossil fuels. Tax all fossil fuel use consumed for energy.
Eliminate federal subsidies of fossil fuels. Tax all imported fossil fuels by 80%.
2017 ~ Increase fines. Tax all fossil fuel use consumed for energy. Tax all
imported fossil fuels by 90%.
2018 ~ Ten year goal; all homes, all buildings and all vehicles will be fossil fuel
independent. We can now use our fossil resources for those manufactured items
essential to our everyday use.
We will have moved from world polluter to world preserver!

going green: I am confident that
a 10 year plan, or less, can make
our nation fossil fuel independent.
